MUSIC: Jeanne O’Connor & the New Standard @ Skidmore College’s Tang Museum, Saratoga Springs. The UpBeat On the Roof concert series continues on the museum’s roof with re-interpretations of the music of Joni Mitchell, Burt Bacharach, Carole King and other songwriters of the ’60s and ’70s pop scene. 7pm. MUSIC: The Revelations @ Club Helsinki, Hudson. A vibrant mix of soul and R&B rooted in the classic Stax Records and Philly soul sounds of the 1960s and ’70s, led by vocalist Rell Gaddis, who penned Usher’s No. 1 R&B hit, “Here I Stand.” With Simi Stone. 9pm.
MUSIC: Jon Pousette-Dart @ Caffe Lena, Saratoga Springs. The folk-rocker was a ’70s radio mainstay, a favorite on the college circuit, and played arenas from coast to coast. The original group broke up in the early ’80s, but Jon continued on his own releasing five solo albums to critical acclaim, with a new one out this year. With Marc Douglas Berardo. 8pm. $24.
OPERA: “Elixir of Love” @ SPAC’s Spa Little Theatre, Saratoga Springs. It’s opening night for Opera Saratoga’s production of Donizetti’s romantic comedy, directed by Helena Binder (aka, Blanche Blotto). 7:30pm. Also Sunday.
THEATER: “Romeo & Juliet” @ Skidmore College’s Amphitheater, Saratoga Springs. The Lion’s Tooth Theatre Company’s debut production, directed by Joan Lawson. The Capulets fight the Montagues. The Montagues fight the Capulets. And in the midst of it all, a boy and a girl fall in love. 5:30pm pre-show carnival; 8pm show. Donations accepted. Through Saturday.
THEATER: “Fully Committed” @ the Wood Theater, Glens Falls. Adirondack Theatre Festival kicks off its 20th anniversary season with Becky Mode’s homegrown comedy starring Sam Lloyd (“Scrubs”) as an aspiring actor who works as the reservationist at a posh Manhattan restaurant. In a tour de force performance, he also plays close to 40 callers, including a wealthy socialite, a gangster, a Japanese tourist, and a supermodel’s frenzied assistant. 7:30pm. $15-$40. Through Saturday.
THEATER: “Working on a Special Day” @ Barrington Stage Co.’s St. Germain Stage, Pittsfield. The New England premiere of an unexpected love story between an overworked housewife and a mysterious bachelor directed by and starring Ana Graham and Antonio Vega. 7:30pm.
MUSIC: Captain Squeeze & the Zydeco Moshers @ the Palmer House Cafe, Rensselaerville. Village party begins with a second line parade down Main Street at 6pm and continues with a Cajun buffet and swamp-soaked zydeco music.
