THEATER/FUNDRAISER: “Side By Side By Sondheim” @ the Palace Theatre, Albany. This joint benefit for the Palace and Park Playhouse showcases the genius of Broadway’s foremost composer-lyricist, Stephen Sondheim, including selections from hit shows “Company,” “Follies” and “A Little Night Music,” plus collaborations with Leonard Bernstein (“West Side Story”), Jule Styne (“Gypsy”) and Richard Rodgers (“Do I Hear a Waltz?”). 8pm. $25. Also the pre-performance Backstage Ball VIP cocktail party at 6pm. $150.
MUSIC: The Hello Strangers @ Red Square, Albany. What does the Austin-influenced, rural-Pennsylvanian, indie sister-folk sound like? Verbosity aside, it sounds uniquely like the Hello Strangers, featuring sisters Larissa Chace Smith and Brechyn Chace. With Rebel Darling. 9pm. $10.
MUSIC: Sheryl Crow @ Ulster Performing Arts Center, Kingston. The pop hitmaker-gone-country will be back at SPAC later this summer as the opening act for Rascal Flatts, but tonight she’s got the headlining slot and the spotlight all to herself. With the Wild Feathers. 7:30pm. $75-$125.
THEATER: “The Phantom of the Opera” @ Proctors, Schenectady. The Phantom is back! It’s Cameron Mackintosh’s new production of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s smash hit musical. 1:30 & 8pm. $25-$105. Through June 8.
FESTIVAL/MUSIC: LakeGeorge.com Elvis Festival @ various locations, Lake George. THEATER: “The Other Place” @ Barrington Stage Co., Pittsfield. In Sharr White’s psychological roller-coaster of a play, Juliana Smithton (Marg Helgenberger) is a successful neurologist whose life seems to be coming unhinged. Her husband has filed for divorce, her daughter has eloped with a much older man and her own health is in jeopardy. But in this brilliantly crafted work, nothing is as it seems. 7:30pm.
THEATER: “The Dixie Swim Club” @ Curtain Call Theatre, Latham. Dianne O’Neill directs the hilarious and touching comedy about five southern women who set aside a long weekend every August to recharge their friendships. 7:30pm. $23. Through June 22.

FILM: “Particle Fever” @ Saratoga Arts, Saratoga Springs. Director Mark Levinson’s 2013 documentary chronicles the launch of the Large Hadron Collider as it warms up to conduct the biggest and most expensive scientific experiment in human history. 7:30pm.
