MUSIC: Cris Williamson @ the Eighth Step at Proctors, Schenectady. MUSIC/FUNDRAISER: “Banjo Gospel and Twangin'” @ McKownville United Methodist Church, Albany. The second installment of Lost Radio Rounders annual spring charity concert series features special guests Bowtie and Wild Bill from Ramblin Jug Stompers, as well as the multi-talented Mike Kelley, Amaal Yehia and Pastor Steve Butler. All sorts of banjos will rear their ugly heads – five strings, four strings, eight strings and more. 7pm. FREE; donations encouraged.
MUSIC: Experience Hendrix Tour @ the Palace Theatre, Albany. The an all-star concert tribute to Jimi Hendrix features everyone from funkmeister Bootsy Collins to blues icon Buddy Guy, as well as Jonny Lang, Ernie Isley, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, the innovative Dweezil Zappa, left-handed blues-rocker Eric Gales, Texas guitar greats Doyle Bramhall II and Eric Johnson, Mato Nanji (of Indigenous) and, from Serbia by way of Memphis, Ana Popovic. With the ace rhythm section of Double Trouble drummer Chris Layton and bassist Billy Cox – the only player, apart from Hendrix himself, who was part of both the Band of Gypsys and the Jimi Hendrix Experience. 8pm. $39.75, $49.75, $59.75 & $79.75. MUSIC: Mist Covered Mountains @ Caffe Lena, Saratoga Springs. Vocalist Molly Hebert-Wilson does double duty, singing Celtic and Québécois tunes with the headliners, as well as more contemporary gothic Americana with opening act Eli August & the Abandoned Buildings. 8pm. $15.
THEATER: “Gypsy: A Musical Fable” @ Capital Repertory Theatre, Albany.”Everything’s Coming Up Roses…” Maggie Mancinelli-Cahill directs the classic musical based on the memoirs of famed stripper Gypsy Rose Lee, featuring a cast of 23 from Broadway star Mary Callanan to local TV personality Benita Zahn. 8pm. $20-$65. THEATER: “Motherhood Out Loud” @ the Unicorn Theatre, Stockbridge. Directed by Jayne Atkinson. A gender diverse series of monologues on the subject of motherhood, starring Jane Kaczmarek (“Malcolm in the Middle”), Michael Gill (“House of Cards”), Amber Chand, Tyler Malik, Rachel Siegel, Barbara Sims and Tammy Denease Williams. 7pm.
