MUSIC: Holly & Evan @ Brunswick Barbecue & Brew, Troy. Serving up tasty blues, in preparation for the trip to Memphis later this month to represent the Local 518 at the prestigious International Blues Competition. 8pm.

MUSIC: Frank Solivan & Dirty Kitchen @ Caffe Lena, Saratoga Springs. The best in blazing bluegrass to warm up your winter weekend. The band earned five 2013 International Bluegrass Music Association Award nominations, and they emerged with two award wins – for members Mike Munford (Banjo Player of the Year) and guitarist Chris Luquette (Momentum Award – Instrumentalist of the Year). Their new album, On the Edge, is already making listeners hungry for more. 8pm. $18 in advance; $20 at the door. UPDATE: This show has been cancelled due to the weather.

FILM: “Cousin Jules” @ Time + Space Limited, Hudson. The lost masterwork of director Dominique Benichetti – made in 1973 but unreleased til now – details the daily lives of French farmer Jules and his wife living alone in the countryside. The result is a ravishing, totally immersive work, in which we not only enter into the subjects’ world but also into the very rhythms of their lives. 6pm. $8; $6 students.
