MUSIC: The New Gary Burton Quartet @ the College of St. Rose’s Massry Center, Albany. In support of his new album, Guided Tour, the jazz vibraphone master brings his 70th birthday tour and his stellar band – bassist Scott Colley, drummer Antonio Sanchez and guitarist Julian Lage – into St. Rose, following a sparkling performance earlier this month at the Jazz at the Lake festival in Lake George. TALK/FILM: “How a Sausage Dog Works” @ EMPAC at RPI, Troy. Curator Ewa Borysiewicz screens and discusses the work of Polish avant-garde filmmaker Julian Józef Antoniszczak (1941-1987), who created animated films by scratching images directly onto the film. His work is commonly associated with naïve, trashy fables and harmless humoresque, but Borysiewicz reveals a hidden political dimension in the filmmaker’s work. 6pm. FREE.
