MUSIC: Williamsburg Salsa Orchestra @ MASS MoCA, North Adams. This hard-hitting eleven-piece band will make you think about salsa in a whole new way as they trade in the standard repertoire for dynamic salsa-fied arrangements of alt-rock tunes by the Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs, TV on the Radio, LCD Soundsystem, the Black Keys, Spoon and other indie favorites, delivering red-hot Latin grooves that are two parts SXSW and one part Ricky Ricardo. 8pm. $16; $10 students. MUSIC: “A History of the Blues: From the 1920s to the Dawn of Rock & Roll” @ Sand Lake Center for the Arts, Averill Park. Low ‘n Lonesome hosts this musical history with Holly & Evan and Sonny Speed & the Resonators. Narrated by Ray Giguere. 8pm. $16; $10 under age 18.
MUSIC: Molly Durnin @ Caffe Lena, Saratoga Springs. After a recent hiatus from the scene, the acclaimed Local 518 singer-songwriter steps back into the spotlight
with her band for a solo performance. 8pm. $16.
ART WORKSHOPS: Isaiah Zagar @ Freedom Square, Troy. The creator of Philadelphia’s aptly named Magic Gardens – leads a two-day workshop to transform the stage at Freedom Square into a community-designed found art masterpiece. Stop by for an hour, an afternoon, a day or register for the full two-day workshop (sliding scale $1-$350, you choose). Whatever you decide, there’s a community potluck from 12noon-3pm both Saturday and Sunday. 9am-5pm.
BURLESQUE: Midnite Rock-n-Roll Burlesque @ Valentine’s Music Hall, Albany. With special guest host Baby Dead Girl. 12midnight. $5.
