Jazz saxophonist Brian Patneaude will be spinning platters and stepping up to the radio microphone on Saturday morning (March 30) for his annual tribute to the late saxman Michael Brecker. Listen in on DJ Bill McCann’s weekly “Saturday Morning Edition of Jazz” radio program on WCDB 90.9FM from 8-12noon on Saturday.
The Foundry for Art Design + Culture in Cohoes is launching of their latest cultural enterprise — Foundry Press, A Print Collective. Housed in the annex of the Cohoes Public Library, Foundry Press will provide letterpress printing and bookmaking services, classes and workshops, open studios and tours with the goal of furthering the craft of traditional printing and book arts.
Two new stars will be installed on the Saratoga Performing Arts Center’s Walk of Fame this summer. SPAC co-founder Jane Wait’s star will be unveiled on Friday, May 24 during the Saratoga 150 celebration. A star for the late great jazz pianist Dave Brubeck will also be unveiled during Freihofer’s Saratoga Jazz Festival on June 29-30. Brubeck performed at the festival a record 13 times over the overs.
Singer-songwriter Sarah Fimm has organized a multi-day workshop camp Powered by Dreaming: Sparkle Camp at the Full Moon Resort in Big Indian from Tuesday-Friday, May 28-31. Workshops will be conducted on such various topics as art, music, astronomy, biology, botany, bubbles and more. Registration costs begin at $450.
WMHT-TV is currently seeking short independent films for the fifth season of their homegrown short film anthology program “TvFILM.” The new season will premiere in June, but perspective filmmakers have only until 12noon on Monday, April 8 to submit their films for consideration.
