MUSIC: The Terry Gordon Quintet @ Panza’s, Saratoga Lake. Trumpeter Terry Gordon and his band – saxman Eric Walentowicz, guitarist Michael-Louis Smith, bassist Bill Lawrence and drummer Matthew Maguire – play a Swingtime Jazz Society concert to celebrate the release of their new CD Tomorrow Calling. 4pm. $15; students $5. Followed by an open jam session at 6pm.
CABARET: Len Cariou @ Club Helsinki, Hudson. The Helsinki On Broadway Sunday night cabaret series continues with a performance by the man who created the role of Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street and won a Best Actor Tony Award for it. He’s also currently seen on the CBS-TV police drama “Blue Bloods.” 7pm. $30 & $50.
MUSIC: Andrey Ponochevny & Elena Zyl @ College of Saint Rose’s Massry Center, Albany. Duo piano concert. Both accomplished and acclaimed pianists, the husband-and-wife duo of Andrey Ponochevny and Elena Zyl are both natives of Minsk, Belarus, and have claimed top prizes at numerous international piano competitions. 3pm. $35.
MUSIC: Tommy Sands @ the Eighth Step at Proctors, Schenectady. Legendary County Down singer-songwriter Tommy Sands’ new narrated concert program – performed with his son Fionàn – is based on his recent album Arising From the Troubles. 7pm. $28; VIP $50.
MUSIC: SFJAZZ Collective @ The Egg, Albany. The all star ensemble SFJAZZ Collective will perform the music of Chick Corea and original compositions performed by alto saxophonist Miguel Zenón, tenor saxophonist David Sánchez, vibraphonist Stefon Harris, trumpeter Avishai Cohen, trombonist Robin Eubanks, pianist Edward Simon, bassist Matt Penman and drummer Jeff Ballard. 7:30pm. $29.50. THEATER: “Sordid Lives” @ Saratoga Arts Center, Saratoga Springs. Director Del Shores and the Local Actors Guild of Saratoga serve up a heaping helping of Southern-fried comic melodrama in his play about infidelity, country & western music and Airstream trailers. 7:30pm. $15.
THEATER: Mermaid Theatre of Nova Scotia @ The Egg, Albany. Combining puppetry, black light, original music and captivating storytelling, the children’s theater company performs “Guess How Much I Love You” and “I Love My Little Storybook.” 3pm. Children $10; adults FREE.
OPERA ON FILM: “Parsifal” @ Time + Space Limited, Hudson. From the Metropolitan Opera, director François Girard’s new vision for Wagner’s final masterpiece explores the many facets of this mystical score. Daniele Gatti conducts. 12noon. $25; students $15.
