MUSIC: The Figgs @ Putnam Den, Saratoga Springs. It’s a Spa City homecoming concert for the power-popsters as they reunite with former member Guy Lyons and celebrate the release of their new compilation CD, 1000 People Grinning. 9pm. $10.
MUSIC: Holiday Folk Show @ Caffe Lena, Saratoga Springs. It’s Nippertown’s only “Candlemas-Hanukkah-Ramadan-Solstice-Christmas-Kwanzaa-New Year-Boxing Day-Epiphany Event” featuring the husband-and-wife triple-header of John Kirk & Trish Miller, Linda Schrade & David Kiphuth and Addie Murray & Olin Boyle. 8pm. $15 in advance; $17 at the door; children under 13 $7.50.
OPERA ON FILM: “La Clemenza Di Tito” @ Time + Space Limited, Hudson. The virtuosic Elina Garança sings Sesto in Mozart’s drama set in ancient Rome. Giuseppe Filianoti is the noble Tito, and Barbara Frittoli is Vitellia, in this handsome revival of one of the composer’s final masterpieces. Harry Bicket conducts. 12:55pm. $22; students $15.
MUSIC: “Ghosts of Hardcore Past” @ Valentine’s Music Hall, Albany. Annual tribute show featuring Bourbon playing the songs of Anti Nowhere League; the Grubs covering Screeching Weasel; Cancer rummaging through the Negative Approach songbag; etc. 8pm.
FILM: “Jules et Jim” @ Time + Space Limited, Hudson. It’s the 50th anniversary of legendary director François Truffaut’s early masterpiece – which has been hailed as one of the finest films ever made. Starring Jeanne Moreau, Oskar Werner and Henri Serre. 8pm. $7; students $5.
MUSIC: Jingle Bell Rock & Metal Fest @ Upstate Concert Hall, Clifton Park. Featuring I Died Laughing, Erratic Disturbance, Our Narrow Escape, the Silver Standard, Realation, Cosmic Funk and more. 4pm. $12 with $1 from each ticket to benefit the Ronald McDonald House.
FILM: “Modern Times” @ Time + Space Limited, Hudson. The 1936 gem is often hailed as one of Charlie Chaplin’s greatest achievements. In addition to writing, directing and producing the film, Chaplin also stars in this satire of the machine age as an assembly-line worker driven insane by the monotony of his job. 5:45pm. $7; students $5.
FESTIVAL/MUSIC/FUNDRAISER: The Sandy Cause Family Music Fest for Hurricane Sandy Relief @ the Bearsville Theater, Woodstock. A fun-for-the-whole-family children’s holiday show featuring Uncle Rock, Story Laurie & Ira McIntosh, Grenadilla and Ratboy Jr. with yuletide singalongs, face painting and holiday snacks ‘n crafts! 12noon-3pm. $10; $25 per family.
MUSIC/FUNDRAISER: Sandy Benefit Dinner & Concert @ ITAM Lodge, Pittsfield. Great local music and food with raffles, silent auctions and more fun to benefit the families of Far Rockaway in the wake of Hurricane Sandy. Featuring music by the Interlopers, Melodrome, John Zarvis, October Mountain, the Blend, Hyroglifix, the Top and many more musical surprises. 6pm. $20.
FILM: “Barrymore” @ Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center, Great Barrington. Academy Award-winner Christopher Plummer stars as John Barrymore, one of the greatest Shakespearian actors of all time in this play by William Luce. 8pm. $18; students $10.
