MUSIC: The Bandana Splits @ MASS MoCA’s Club B-10, North Adams. This charming Brooklyn-based trio of singers – Dawn Landes, Lauren Balthrop and Annie Nero – have a sound reminiscent of the great girl groups of the ’50s and ’60s inspired by the Ronettes, the Caravelles and others. 8pm. $16; students $10.
MUSIC/FUNDRAISER: Jake Holmes @ the Saratoga Arts Center, Saratoga Springs. The under-appreciated singer-songeriter not only wrote the Led Zep classic “Dazed and Confused,” but also the U.S. Army jingle, “Be All You Can Be.” And if that ain’t a stretch, well, I don’t know what if. FILM: “Detropia” @ Time + Space Limited, Hudson. This new film by Heidi Ewing and Rachel Grady is a cinematic tapestry that chronicles the lives of several Detroiters trying to survive and make sense of what is happening to their city in the midst of the collapse of the economy and the fading American mythos. 8pm. $7; students $5.

A special birthday tribute to John Lennon featuring Jeff Slate’s Birds of Paradox, featuring Gary Van Scyoc and Adam Ippolito of Lennon’s Plastic Ono/Elephant’s Memory Band, along with drummer Alex Alexander and guitarist Jimmy Mack. With Carlo Cantamesa (of the Cast of Beatlemania) performing an acoustic set “John Lennon: In My Life.” Local author Martha Frankel will also offer a reading in remembrance of Lennon. 9pm. $15; VIP $25.
