The weekly National Public Radio show “From the Top” airs on more than 200 radio stations nationwide and has provided an hour-long showcase for young, high-caliber classical music performers for a dozen years.
Hosted by the eclectic pianist Christopher O’Riley, the show returns to the Troy Savings Bank Music Hall for the fourth time at 7:30pm on Friday, once again taping the show in front of a live audience amidst the exquisite acoustics of the Hall.
The evening will also feature 17-year-old cellist Miriam Liske-Doorandish from Eggleston, Virginia, who currently performs with Too Many Hats, as well as in the Blue Ridge Cello Ensemble.
Special guest performer for the evening will be maverick cellist Matt Haimovitz, who will join O’Riley to perform selections from their recently released 2CD collaboration, Shuffle. Listen. Play., a dizzying diverse and delightful set that delves into the repertoire of Igor Stravinsky and Radiohead, Astor Piazzolla and Arcade Fire, Leos Janacek and John McLaughlin. And lots more.
