Festival Fever: Saratoga Native American Festival @ SPAC, 9/29-30/12
The annual Saratoga Native American Festival returns to the Saratoga Performing Arts Center grounds in Saratoga Springs this weekend for two days of activities that promise to be educational as well as entertaining.
The fest will feature performances by singer-songwriter Darryl Tonemah (Saturday only) and the Dawnland Singers (Sunday only), as well as flute player Al Cleveland, storyteller Perry Ground, the Iron River Singers, the Rez Dogs, the Haudenosaunee Singers & Dancers and the Onondaga Dancers. In addition to the performances, the fest will host competitions in art, drumming and dancing. Throughout the fest, there will also be numerous hands-on workshops, demonstrations and vendors of Native American arts from basketry to jewelry making to carving.
There are plenty of large tents on the grounds, and the fest will be held rain or shine.
Daily admission to the festival is $12; seniors $10; ages 6-12 $5; children under 5 FREE.
