READING: Nathan Larson @ Basilica Hudson. The film music composer (“Margin Call,” “Boys Don’t Cry”) and former lead guitarist with Shudder to Think reads from his debut novel, “The Nervous System.” With Bill Peters. 7pm. FREE.

FILM: “A Face in the Crowd” @ Spring Street Gallery, Saratoga Springs. If everything you know about Andy Griffith came from Mayberry, this Elia Kazan film will blow you away. 7:30pm. FREE.

MUSIC: Mike Trash @ Valentine’s Music Hall, Albany. The Erotics frontman steps out for Acoustic Punk Rock Monday. With Morgan Williams, Vomlette and Kevin Sullivan (from Charlie Don’t Surf). 8pm.

THEATER ON FILM: “The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night” @ the Spectrum 8 Theatres, Albany. A production of the National Theatre of London, based on Mark Haddon’s best-selling novel. 15-year-old Christopher stands beside Mrs. Shears’ dead dog, Wellington. It has been speared with a garden fork, it is seven minutes after midnight, and Christopher is under suspicion. He records each fact in his book to solve the mystery. He has an extraordinary brain, exceptional at math but ill-equipped to interpret everyday life. He has never ventured alone beyond the end of his road, he detests being touched and he distrusts strangers. But his detective work, forbidden by his father, takes him on a frightening journey that upturns his world. 7pm. $15; ages 12 and under $12.

MUSIC: Rinus van Alebeek @ the Spotty Dog Books & Ale, Hudson. One of the leading cassette artists, Van Alebeek describes his intricately layered sound works as “para-realism.” With Doug van Nort. 8pm. $5.

FILM: “Casablanca” @ the Palace Theatre, Albany. One of the all-time classics featuring Humphrey Bogart, Ingrid Bergman, Paul Henreid and Claude Rains. 7pm. $5; children $3.

MUSIC: Lil’ Cliff & the Cliffhangers @ Club Helsinki, Hudson. The International Blues Challenge finalists hit Hudson in support of their latest album, “The Lovin’ Kind.” 8pm. FREE.

FILM: “Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner?” @ Proctors, Schenetady. A gemm from 1967 starring Spencer Tracy, Katharine Hepburn, Katharine Houghton and Sidney Poitier. 2:30, 5 & 7:30pm. $5.

MUSIC: “Alone, Together” @ Union College’s Emerson Auditorium, Schenectady. A recital for piano and violin by EunMi Ko and Sini Virtanen featuring works by Hilary Tann, Olivier Messiaen and Claude Debussy. 5pm. FREE.
