FESTIVAL/MUSIC: Albany Tulip Festival @ Washington Park, Albany. The tulips are past their peak, but the weather and the music should be great – Fountains of Wayne, Conehead Buddha, Walk the Moon, the City Never Sleeps, Tomorrow the Moon, Barkeater and the LateShift. MUSIC: Jon Pousette-Dart @ Caffe Lena, Saratoga Springs. The veteran singer-songwriter makes a rare Nippertown appearance in support of his latest album, “Anti-Gravity.” 8pm. $22 in advance; $24 at the door.

FILM: “Marley” @ Time + Space Limited, Hudson. Academy Award-winning director Kevin Macdonald documents one of the most towering figures in musical history – the life story of Bob Marley, the musician, the revolutionary and the legend. 7:30pm. $7; students $5.

OPERA ON FILM: “Das Rheingold” @ Time + Space Limited, Hudson. The Metropolitan Opera presents the first opera in Wagner’s Ring Cycle, in which the gods of Valhalla clash with underworld dwarves and brawny giants… with disastrous consequences. 3:30pm. $20; students $12.50.
MUSIC: “Build a (Coffee) House” @ St. Madeleine Sophie Church, Guilderland. A coffeehouse benefit to raise funds to send St. Madeleine Sophie teen group on a mission trip to help rebuild houses in the midwest struck by tornadoes. Featuring the acoustic singer-songwriter duo 2Late and the contemporary Christian group 4Ever1. 7pm. Donation.
FILM: “Wagner’s Dream” @ Time + Space Limited, Hudson. Susan Froemke’s documentary captures the trials and tribulations as director Robert Lepage and the Metropolitan Opera take on the enormous challenge of staging opera’s most monumental work, Wagner’s Ring Cycle. 1pm. $10; students $4.50.
MUSIC: Rock Against Domestic Violence @ Valentine’s Music Hall, Albany. Featuring Babe City, Gimlet Slip, Blast for Me and Public Noise Concern. 6pm. $10; or $5 with the donation of a full-size personal care item (shampoo, soap, toothpaste, etc.).
DANCE: Ellen Sinopoli Dance Company Repertory Concert @ the Arts Center of the Capital Region, Troy. Featured will be the premiere of “Zarmina,” named for an Afghan poet martyr, and set to a new cello work by Cornelius Dufallo. 8pm. $20; children under 12 $15; student rush $10.
MUSIC: The Mahavishnu Project @ the Bearsville Theater, Woodstock. The 70’s-styled jazz-rock fusion band pays tribute to the music of the Mahavishnu Orchestra, Jeff Beck & Jan Hammer and Billy Cogham’s Spectrum. 9pm. $20.
MUSIC: Skip Parsons’ Riverboat Jazz Band @ the Fountain Restaurant, Albany. It’s another weekend of early style New Orleans and Chicago jazz featuring clareinetist-vocalist Skip Parsons, pianist Rich Skrika, guitarist Bernie Mulleda, drummer Tim Coakley, cornetist Richard Downs, trombonist Woody Strobeck, bass saxman Johnny Peppers. And don’t forget the pizza… 10pm.
MUSIC: Dredd Foole @ the Spring Street Gallery, Saratoga Springs. Pitchfork describes the music as “a mesmerizing collection of exploratory guitar, haunting vocals and dark reverb, evoking the rituals of Velvet Underground associate Angus MacLise, the psych of early Pink Floyd and the outsider art of Jandek.” Chris Corsano kicks off the evening with a solo set. 7pm. $7.
FESTIVAL/MUSIC/FUNDRAISER: Mayfest @ Williams College’s Weston Field, Williamstown. The all-day outdoor music festival features food, drinks and live music by Jungle Work, the Rock Hounds, Rebel Alliance and CJ Field. All net proceeds go to the North Adams Regional Hospital. 1-8pm. $15; children under 12 free.
