OPERA: “Die Fledermaus” @ SPAC’s Spa Little Theater, Saratoga Springs. In celebration of its 50th anniversary this year, Lake George Opera decided to change its name to Opera Saratoga, and tonight it kicks off its big anniversary season with the premiere performance under its new identity. 7:30pm. $55-$80. Through Sunday, July 10.
MUSIC: Engelbert Humperdinck @ Palace Theatre, Albany. Yes, the King of Romance is 75 years old now, but he’s still making ’em swoon when he croons his way through “Please Release Me,” “After the Lovin’,” “Spanish Eyes” or any of his other half dozen Top 40 hits. 7pm. UPDATE: Due to illness, this concert has been postponed. Will likely be re-scheduled for May, 2012.
DANCE: Mark Morris Dance Group @ Tanglewood’s Ozawa Hall, Lenox. With cellist Yo-Yo Ma. Featuring “Frisson” (music by Stravinsky), “Italian Concerto” and “Falling Down Stars” (both music by Bach) and the world premiere of “Renard” (music by Stravinsky). 8pm. $20-$99.
MUSIC: Johanna Jacobsen @ Caffe Lena, Saratoga Springs. The Nashville singer-songwriter (and Saratoga native) plays her first homecoming concert in quite a while, showing selections from her debut album, “What It’s Like to Fly.” 7pm. $5.
OPERA ON FILM: “Simon Boccanegria” @ Time + Space Limited, Hudson. An encore performance of Verdi’s classic with tenor Plàcido Domingo in the title role. 6:30pm. $15; students $12.50.
MUSIC: Capital Music Underground @ Savannah’s, Albany. Ralph Renna hosts the free weekly local music showcase. Featured bands are Do Not Attempt, Vinnie Corrodore (of Junkhead) and Tamer Lane. 8pm. FREE.
