FESTIVAL/MUSIC: Rhythm On the Ridge @ Maple Ski Ridge, Rotterdam. An all-day acoustic roots music festival featuring performances by such local and regional bands as Tern Rounders, the Red Haired Strangers, Flood Road, Ramblin Jug Stompers, C.B. MUSIC: Stephen Trombley @ Main Street Gazebo, Salem. Percussionist-vocalist Cindi Baxter and multi-instrumentalist Nathan Knowles join Trombley – singer-songwriter, Emmy Award-winning filmmaker and member of Psychoneedles – for the latest Summer Sounds of Salem show. 11am. FREE.
MUSIC: Dan Zanes & Elizabeth Mitchell @ MASS MoCA, North Adams. Two of the nation’s finest children’s music performers join forces for their first-ever duo show outside of NYC. 2pm. $20; children $10.
MUSIC: Roswell Rudd @ Athens Cultural Center, Athens. The final concert of the season in Planet Arts’ Jazz one2one series pairs up the great jazz trombonist Rudd with Cuban vocalist-guitarist David Oquendo. A pre-show talk with the musicians takes place at 7pm. Fireworks follow the show. 8pm. $10.
PARTICIPATORY DANCE: Summer’s Eve Ball @ the Arts Center of the Capital Region, Troy. An evening of elegant ballroom dancing co-sponsored by the Arts Center and USA Dance. Waltz lessons at 7pm. Dancing to the music of Champagne Jam from 8-11pm. $15.
FESTIVAL/ART/MUSIC: Art On Lark @ Lark Street, Albany. Lark Street is closed to traffic, as we celebrate Nippertown’s artistic community with on-street art exhibits, film screenings and plenty of great music, too. Complete schedule of musical performances here. 11am-5pm. FREE.
MUSIC: 2Late @ St. Madeleine Sophie Church, Guilderland. The acoustic duo of Vicki Gayle and Mike Short celebrate the official release of their third CD, “A Little 2Late,” recorded at the Tree of Life Studios in Guilderland. 7pm.
FILM/MUSIC/MORE: Delta Blues Night @ Saratoga Arts, Saratoga Springs. Michael Afendakis’ blues music documentary “Delta Rising,” kicks off the evening at 6pm, followed by a Q&A with the director. A fried chicken dinner from the famed Hattie’s Restaurant is served at 7:15pm. Blues group Street Corner Holler plays at 7:45pm. READINGS: “Selected Shorts” @ Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center, Great Barrington. The hit public radio series Symphony Spaces’ Selected Shorts, comes to the Berkshires for a live, onstage performance featuring host Isaiah Sheffer and actors Christine Ebersole and Campbell Scott reading short stories regarding “Readings on Fatherhood.” 8pm. $32, $42.
MUSIC: Shontelle @ Waterworks Pub, Albany. “Sing Out Louise 5” – featuring Mama Brent, Frieda Munchon, Carmie Hope and more of the gals – kicks off the evening at 9pm followed by pop-dance songstress Shontelle (“Impossible,” “Say Hello to Goodbye”) at 11pm.
READING: Dina Bursztyn @ the Open Studio, Catskill. The marvelously inventive artist Bursztyn celebrates the publication of her new bilingual children’s picture book, “The Land of Lost Things/El Pais de las Cosas Perdidas.” 4:30 & 6pm. FREE.
