6/8/11: Today’s Tips: Wednesday
MUSIC: Alejandro Escovedo & the Sensitive Boys @ Club Helsinki, Hudson. After stellar, tear-’em-up shows at the Calvin Theatre and The Egg in the past year, the Austin alt-country legend and his kick-ass band roll through town once again in support of his latest album, “Street Songs of Love.” If you’ve seen him before, then you’ve probably already got your tix for this one, right? If not, well, what are ya waiting for? 8pm. $25.
MUSIC: Robin Trower @ The Egg, Albany. From his early days with Procol Harum to his classic ’74 solo masterpiece “Bridge of Sighs” to his new album “The Playful Heart,” the British guitar hero has always been a guitarists’ guitarist. 8pm. $33.75, $43.75.
RADIO/MUSIC: “Dancing On the Air” @ The Linda, Albany. Jay Ungar, Molly Mason & the Dancing On the Air Orchestra lead their monthly concert/live radio show with this month’s special guests – Berkshires singer-songwriter Bobby Sweet and Dutch folk group Kapriol’! – on WAMC-FM. 8pm. $10.
MUSIC: Bonerama @ the Iron Horse Music Hall, Northampton. They’re one of New Orleans’ finest horn-fueled combos, and they churn up a not-so-delicate balance of dance-floor funk and street parade beat. Maybe you’ve heard them on the new R.E.M. album, “Collapse Into Now”? 7pm. $12.50 in advance; $15 at the door.
