Five Firsts: Christopher Plyem of What She Said

NAME: Christopher Plyem
BAND AFFILIATION: What She Said
INSTRUMENT: Drums, Vocals, Guitar
1. THE FIRST ALBUM I EVER BOUGHT WAS … Beatles’ “Rubber Soul.”
2. THE FIRST CONCERT THAT I EVER SAW WAS … StarCastle (with opening act Boston -Boston blew StarCastle away completely!)
3. THE FIRST MUSICAL INSTRUMENT I EVER OWNED OR PLAYED WAS … A Ludwig kit, which looked just like Ringo Starr’s drums.
4. THE FIRST SONG THAT I EVER PERFORMED IN PUBLIC WAS … “Squonk” by Genesis
5. THE FIRST BAND I WAS EVER IN WAS … First “real band” was called Sinequanon. A radio DJ made us change the name because she couldn’t pronounce it, and refused to give us gig props! Back then (late ’70s) a radio DJ meant something in the world of local music.
Drummer Christopher Plyem and the rest of his bandmates in What She Said will be playing at Jay’s Bar & Grill in Ballston Spa at 9pm on Friday, as well as at Pinhead Susan’s block party in Schenectady at 11pm on Saturday.
