Music Venues: Come and Gone in 2010
The end of the calendar year is a time to survey the past 12 months time and see what kind of balance we have achieved.
So here’s a quick glance over some of the live music venues that Nippertown gained and lost during 2010. You do the math:
CLOSED:
Revolution Hall, Troy
Tess’ Lark Tavern, Albany
The Bread & Jam Cafe, Cohoes
Positively Fourth Street, Troy
Jason’s Upstairs Bar, Hudson
Emack & Bolio’s, Guilderland
The Boght Arts Center, Cohoes
OPENED:
Club Helsinki Hudson, Hudson
American Glory, Hudson
Dinosaur Bar-B-Que, Troy
OPENED & CLOSED:
The Judge’s Inn, Troy
What did we miss?
the moral of the story (as always) stop wishing for what we don’t have and support what we do have.
saddest 2010 list on Nippertown yet. Jason’s, Rev Hall, Bread & Jam, Lark Tavern were some of the best venues out there.
What happened with Rev Hall was such a shame and completely avoidable, but the new folks in charge just didn’t have a clue how to run that kind of music venue.
Here’s hoping 2011 brings a meaningful music venue back to Troy. We need our own Valentine’s.
