Kolok Gallery is now accepting submissions for representation and exhibition at the Gallery’s Windsor Mill space in North Adams and for installations at partner restaurants (Mezze in Williamstown and Allium in Great Barrington). Davis Orton Gallery in Hudson is seeking entries for a juried photobook competition culminating in a gallery exhibition and sale. Twenty winning books will be exhibited and for sale at the Davis Orton Gallery. Four photobooks will be selected as Best in Show. Up to 4 photographs (depending upon size) by each entrant awarded Best of Show will be exhibited in the gallery. An online catalog of the twenty selected books will have links to your website or online storefront and will remain on the Davis Orton Gallery website for a year. (Deadline: October 1)
Hudson’s Limner Gallery is seeking submissions in all media for “A Show Of Heads,” an exhibition will include all interpretations and portrayals of the human head, from the traditional to the abstract and conceptual, to be held from November 4 – 27, 2010. (Deadline: August 31)
The Arts Center of the Capital Region is offering monetary grants to not-for-profit organizations in Albany, Schenectady and Rensselaer Counties to support public arts and cultural programs in 2011. Last year they awarded $77,800 to 38 groups raning from traditional Indian dance workshops and a noon-time organ concert series to a Jewish film festival and Latin jazz. (Deadline: October 2)
The Center for Photography at Woodstock will is accepting applications for its 2010 Photographers’ Fellowship. The award is open to anyone not currently enrolled in a degree program who is working within the photographic arts including photo-based sculptures and sculpture incorporating photography who live within the following listed counties of upstate New York: Albany, Clinton, Columbia, Delaware, Dutchess, Essex, Franklin, Fulton, Greene, Hamilton, Montgomery, Orange, Otsego, Putnam, Rensselaer, Rockland, Saratoga, Schenectady, Schoharie, Sullivan, Ulster, Warren, Washington and Westchester. One $2,500 Fellowship will be awarded. (Deadline: September 20)
Restoration Funstival (Rest Fest) is seeking visual artwork for a juried exhibition that will be installed in St. Joseph’s Church for the duration of the two-day festival on Saturday, August 28 and Sunday, August 29, 2010. September in the City Art Fair is seeking artists to sell and exhibit at the September in the City Art Fair held in Tricentennial Park at Broadway and Columbia St. in Albany, from 11:30am to 2:00pm on September 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29, 2010. acceptable media: painting, watercolor, acrylic, pastel, oil, photography and sculpture. Pittsfield’s Artscape is seeking proposals for new artworks for various outdoor locations accessible to the public throughout the downtown area for the 2010-2011 exhibition season. Artists will receive a $1000 honorarium. (Deadline: October 31)
Art In The Public Eye is accepting registrations for Chalk Fest, an annual sidewalk painting competition to be hel at Lapham Place in downtown Glens Falls on August 19 as part of the Glens Falls Third Thursday Arts Walk. (Deadline: August 19)

The Town of Clifton Park’s Community Arts and Culture Commission has announced “Rural Roots,” a photo contest for amateur photographers in town. 13 winning photographs will be printed in a 2011 Calendar as well as displayed at Historic Grooms Tavern during the town’s Farm Fest weekend on September 11-12, where visitors will cast their vote to select the cover of the calendar. (Deadline: August 11)
Want to play LarkFest? Four bands will be selected by a panel of judges to perform at Albany’s largest street fair on Saturday, September 25. Submit online here or here. $15 application fee. (Deadline: August 13).

The Mohawk & Hudson River Humane Society is seeking artists to donate work for Art Saves Animals 2010, an evening of live and silent auctions of original artwork and handcrafted items to be held at the Arts Center of the Capital Region on September 30. (We’re the honorary chairs for this worthwhile event.) (Deadline: September 3)
Saratoga Arts, through the New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA) Decentralization Program offers the Saratoga County Program for Arts Funding (SPAF), which awards grants to support arts and cultural programming in all arts disciplines throughout Saratoga County. Since 1994, SPAF has awarded over $518,000 for hundreds of programs in Dance, Fabric Arts, Film, Fine Crafts, Folk/Traditional Arts, History, Literature, Multi-cultural Arts, Music, Native American Arts, Photography, Public Art, Sculpture, Storytelling, Theater and Visual Arts.
Grants are available in two categories:
- Project Grants: grants ranging from $500 to $5,000 to registered
Saratoga County non-profit organizations, municipalities and sponsored
individual artists to support arts and cultural programming in all arts
disciplines in communities throughout the county. (Application deadline: October 7, 2010)
- Artist Grants: 3 grants of $2,500 awarded to Saratoga County individual artists for the creation of new work that reflects local community life or culture and engages a community in the creative process (directly or indirectly). Grants focus on the artistâ?Ts work, with the goal of enhancing artistic career development and fostering interaction between artists and communities. (Application deadline: September 16, 2010)
UAlbany’s University Art Museum is seeking works in all media by alumni of all graduate and undergraduate programs for an exhibition this fall. (Deadline: October 1).
TedXAlbany is seeking speakers for its independently organized Ted event at The Egg on November 4th, a day of information, inspiration and entertainment in which a wide variety of speakers, authors, business people and educators will be recklessly sharing ideas and insights to provoke thinking and conversation.
