MUSIC: FODfest Community Concert @ Club Helsinki Hudson, Hudson. The annual series of community concerts by the Friends of Daniel Pearl kicks off its 2010 season at the new Helsinki in Hudson. 8pm. General admission is free; reserved seating is $25.
DANCE: Jason Samuels Smith and Anybody Can Get It @ SPAC’s Spa Little Theater, Saratoga Springs. Smith has been a tap dance sensation since making his Broadway debut in “Bring in Da Noise, Bring in Da Funk” as a teenager. It’s simply mindboggling what his feet can do. 8pm. $25.
ARTS WALK: Troy Night Out @ various location, Troy. It’s the long holiday weekend, and the weather’s absolutely perfect, so come on out for a stroll and see what kinds of art, culture and entertainment you can bump into. 5-9pm. Free.
FESTIVAL: GottaGetGon @ the Saratoga County Fairgrounds, Ballston Spa. The most casual, friendly folk music festival that you’re likely to find anywhere. Featuring Little Toby Walker, the Mother-Daughter String Band, Pamela Goddard, more. Read more here. Through Sunday.
MUSIC: Deborah Harry, Chris Stein & Matt Katz-Bohen of Blondie @ the Bearsville Theater, Woodstock. This benefit concert for the Woodstock Day School also features such special guests as Tracy Bonham, Happy Traum and Jerry Marotta, David Van Tieghem, Alex Belmont, Peter Dougan, the Woodstock Day School Rock Ensemble and more. 8pm. $40 general admission; $50, $100 reserved seating.
READING: VoX @ the Fuze Box, Albany. It’s the last-Friday-of-the-month open mic night for poets and musicians. Hosted by R.M. Engelhardt. All proceeds benefit Tess Collins and the staff of Tess’ Lark Tavern. 8pm. $4.
