Led by frontman Travis Gray, Wild Adriatic hosted a wild CD release party for their new EP, Never Enough, last month at Vapor in Saratoga Springs. Sharing the stage for the Saratoga rock trio’s big bash was Vermont’s Gang of Thieves.

It was a double-barreled blast of rock ‘n’ roll fun, and it was free, too, thanks to the folks at WEQX-FM.

“We’re comin’ to your town. We’ll help you party it down. We’re an American band…”

No word whether Sweet Sweet Connie from Little Rock was in attendance at Albany’s Alive at Five bash last Thursday, but Grand Funk Railroad partied it down nonetheless…

With guitar hero Mark Farner long ago departed from the line-up, the original rhythm section of Don Brewer (drums) and Mel Schacher (bass) anchored a beefed up band of Funk-ateers that expanded the band’s classic power trio format to a qunitet with the addition of former Kiss guitarist Bruce Kulick, vocalist Max Carl and keyboardist Tim Cashion.

Yes, every once in a long while, the Rockin’ On the River concert series veers off the path dedicated to tribute-bands-and-nothing-but-tribute-bands to showcase some of the Local 518’s finest – bands that actually play their own music.

That certainly was the case earlier this month when two of Nippertown’s hardest rockin’ trios – Super 400 and Wild Adriatic – teamed up for a dynamic double bill in the Troy’s Green Island Bridge parking lot earlier this month.

The night before Thanksgiving… It’s the busiest bar night of the year, and it’s even busier when a couple of rollicking bands like Wild Adriatic and Titanics are rockin’ the house, like they did at the Hollow Bar + Kitchen in downtown Albany.

Wild Adriatic will be back at the Hollow next month, celebrating the release of their new CD, Big Suspicous, on Saturday, January 18.

Yes, Putnam Den was jumpin’. The occasion was the CD release party for Sirsy’s excellent new album, Coming Into Frame on Funzalo Records, and of course Melanie Krahmer and Rich Libutti were in fine form. But they were also loving the opportunity to share the spotlight with their pals in Wild Adriatic, who not only opened the show, but also joined Sirsy for a dip into the Beatles’ songbag with this rendition of “Don’t Let Me Down”…
