The Wind In The Willows

This could be yours.

WBCR-LP is cleaning out their audio library in Great Barrington on Saturday (August 27). The sale is taking place from 10am-4pm. (UPDATE: The sale starts at 10am.)

Hundreds of records – albums, 45s, and 12″ singles – radio station promos and store stock, every genre, great titles that range from the classic to the absurd. Take a drive to the beautiful Berkshires to find cool collectibles, vintage vinyl, crazy odd stuff, and boxes of albums and 45s at yard sale prices (as low as 25 cents apiece). Something for everybody, and all the proceeds go to keep WBCR-LP airing the kind of radio you wish you could hear all the time.

Free admission under the tent outside our studios on Rosseter Street in downtown Great Barrington, Massachusetts – just a few minutes off the Massachusetts Turnpike. Never been to Great Barrington? Lots to see, do, shop, eat, and drink – make a day of it and we’ll make the record shopping worth your while. Great records ready to play and priced to sell!

We’ve got a bunch of private vinyl collections from Berkshire families that were donated to the station for our “library”, which we don’t really need, ’cause everybody brings in their own music to play. And a shitload of CDs. Thousands of items, some of it very, very weird.

Saturday August 27 10-4 no admission, no early-birds, no collector previews, tag-sale prices ($1 and 50 cent vinyl, 50 cent CDs), we’re auctioning off what’s left at the end—one lot, buyer takes it all!

Help Berkshire Radio Stay on the Air

October 29th, 2009, 10:24 am by Sara

Paul Rapp just notified me that WBCR-lp is having their annual fund drive this week:

Our goal for the week is $14,000, but we could use a lot more. It costs around $50,000 to keep the station on the air, which isn’t a whole lot considering what we do for the community and the world.

It’s local. We’re your neighbors. We’re in our fifth year of broadcasting, bringing you shows about nutrition, the environment, history, comedy, politics, home building, computers, nutrition, auto repair, meditation, and healing. Shows created and hosted by kids. Spanish language programming, Saturday morning storytelling, live music, live interviews, and information about events in and around Berkshire County.

And a variety of music you simply can’t get anywhere else on earth. You might not like all of it, but if you tune in an hour later, you might hear something beautiful that you’ve never heard before. And that you won’t hear anywhere else for 100 miles around.

It would be great if you could give something tomorrow (Friday)–I’ll be at the station all day and probably will be answering the phone—-And will be on the air on and off, but definitely will be on during my regular slot between 3 and 4 PM.
