Thistle Hill Weavers

It’s all too rare that Thistle Hill Weavers offers tours, but the Cherry Valley textile mill is throwing open its doors this weekend to celebrate the holiday season, so here’s your chance for viewing the weaving process, on a variety of looms, from start to finish, as well as snapping up some luxury fabrics and holiday gifts.

Working on a total of 14 hand and power looms, some more than 100 years old, owner Rabbit Goody and her staff specialize in creating accurate historic reproductions of fabrics, carpet and trim for designers, home owners, museums and the film industry. They’ve woven carpets for Woodrow Wilson’s boyhood home, covers for George Washington’s bed at his headquarters at Newburgh and created environmentally-friendly fabrics for The Q Collection.
