Billy Stritch

“Gosh, the first record that I ever bought? That’s going back. Hmmm, I want to say Billy Joel, but it was probably before that because he didn’t come along ‘til I was like 12 or 13 years old.

Actually though, growing up in the late ‘60s and early ‘70s, I watched a lot of television, and I’m sort of embarrassed to admit it, but I remember buying a couple of Sonny and Cher albums because they were so big on television. At that point, I had never seen singers like that on TV, who looked glamorous and really had a great sound.

I’m not sure I want to admit that, though.”

In addition to being a Grammt Award-winning composer and a top-of-the-line musical director (for Liza Minnelli, for example), Billy Stritch is an acclaimed recording artist and cabaret performer in his own right. Stritch will be performing at the Mansion at Saratoga in Rock City Falls at 8pm on Wednesday (August 22). Tix are $25; seniors $20; students $10.
