“Mom, I’m bored,” is a familiar whine parents hear from those in middle kid-hood. “Do your homework,” is the practiced refrain, that and yet another trip to the local burger chain to fatten them up for a life as corporate fodder.
Ask any cranky youngster still in their single digits age-wise what they want to do and they’ll answer they don’t know. And you know there’s nothing like something to look forward to.
Now there is hope on the horizon, from a band that knows how to dote on the younger set. Because anyone looking for quirky tunes that channel one’s spunky, funky, pop rock-loving inner eight-year-old will find plenty to love at MASS MoCA’s Club B-10 on Saturday, June 16, at 11:30 AM, when The Jimmies perform live. This kindie (translation: kid indie) band has been heard all over the country, including at Lollapalooza, Musikfest, and Austin City Limits, playing a sweet mix of “clever, creative music [that] gets kids rocking” and “heavy guitar groove [that] hooks in parents as well” (New York Daily News). This band is bound to put five-year-olds and – believe it or not – fifty-five-year olds alike in a musical mood.
