Blues Band ShowdownThe Capital Region Blues Network’s annual Blues Band Showdown will take place at the Fuller Roadhouse Grille in Albany at 7pm on Saturday (October 25).

The Blues Showdown pits four Local 518 blues bands against each other: Bent Rail Blues Band, Fade to Blues, JV & the Cutters and Sly Fox & the Hustlers. In addition, two acts will compete in the solo/duo category: Agape Blues Company and Leslie Barkman.

The fourth annual Blues Bash was held last weekend at the Fuller Roadhouse Grille in Albany, as a fundraiser for the Capital Region Blues Network. It was a knock-down, drag-out night of fiery guitar pyrotechnics from one of the Local 518’s finest guitarslingers Rhett Tyler and his band Early Warning, in support of their latest CD, The Rhythm The Power The Blue. The stage simply couldn’t contain him…

This Weekend’s Battle of the Blues

The Capital Region Blues Network is holding its third annual Blues Bash Fundraiser tonight (Friday, March 22) at the Fuller Roadhouse Grille in Albany. Scotty Mac & the Rockin’ Bonnevilles are the featured band with Holly & Evan opening the evening’s festivities. In addition to the music, the bash will feature a silent auction, a raffle and door prizes, including an autographed Bonnie Raitt album, a framed, autographed Amy Helm photograph, tickets to blues festivals, theaters, restaurants and more. Doors open at 7 pm. Admission is $10; $5 for Blues Network members.

Meanwhile up in Saratoga Springs, Caffe Lena is hosting its eighth annual Blues Weekend with a women’s night tonight, followed by men’s night on Saturday. At 8pm tonight, it’s Danielle Miraglia and Erin Harpe ($18), while line-up at 8pm on Saturday features George Wilson, Street Corner Holler and Michael Jerome Browne ($22).
