Tess Collins Brings Live Music Back to McGeary’s

September 17th, 2010, 4:01 pm by Greg

As you’ve probably heard, Tess Collins – yes, the Tess of Tess’ Lark Tavern – took over the management of McGeary’s in downtown Albany (across the street from the Palace Theatre) at the start of this month.

And it hasn’t taken her and her staff long to get things swinging again at the downtown pub.

On Monday, September 20, live music returns to McGeary’s when Ramblin Jug Stompers take the stage. Showtime is 7pm, and admission is free.

Tess @ McGeary’s: A Slight Delay

September 1st, 2010, 9:50 am by Greg

McGeary's in AlbanyIt’s been almost four months since Tess’ Lark Tavern was destroyed by a fire (more info here) – so the delay of just a couple more days in re-opening shouldn’t matter all that much.

Last month, Lark Tavern owner Tess Collins announced that she was taking over the management at downtown Albany’s favorite Irish pub McGeary’s (more info here), and the Lark Tavern staff was originally slated to open the doors today.

But during recent renovations, a few additional kinks were thrown into the mix – like the need for a new walk-in beer cooler – that has set back the opening day til Friday.

I stopped by the new digs on Sunday, on my way over to Rest Fest, and the renovations, painting and re-decorating of McGeary’s was all in high gear. Hopefully, Tess and the Lark Tavern gals will be ready and open for business on Friday.

So if you’re out and about for the First Friday arts walk, you should find plenty of familiar Lark Tavern faces at McGeary’s. Stop by for a bite or a brew.
