Be Here Now: The Suggestions’ Reunion @ Putnam Den, 7/16/10

July 16th, 2010, 9:55 am by Greg

Capital Region power-popsters the Suggestions – featuring guitarist John Brodeur, bassist Keith Hosmer and drummer Jason “Slade Jones” Schultz – will be reuniting for a show tonight (July 16) at Putnam Den in Saratoga Springs.

“It’s our first time playing together in more than three years,” Brodeur explains, pointing out that the show has been something of a logistical nightmare to line up. “Keith is flying in from Chicago, and Jason from Denver, for the show.”

Equally exciting is the fact that the potent threesome will actually be recording some new tunes, too, at North Sea Studios in Albany. “After the gig, we’re going into the recording studio to cut our first tracks together since 2004,” Brodeur reveals.

Don’t expect the reunion to last, however. As Brodeur says, “We’ll have broken up again by Tuesday morning.”

Tonight, the Suggestions will be sharing the Putnam Den stage with their old friends Paranoid Social Club (from Portland, Maine). “It’s their first area show in two years,” says Brodeur, who also threatens, “I may even hop onstage and do a song with them.”

The Suggestions and Paranoid Social Club team up for a double-bill at Putnam Den in Saratoga Springs at 10pm tonight. Doors open at 9pm, and admission is $7.

Pretty scary, eh kids? Halloween Costumes

October 21st, 2009, 10:39 am by Sara

Well, I hope you’ve got your Halloween costume sorted out, because this year the parties are coming on fast. You HAVEN’T? Yikes. Here are some Flickr links to inspire you.

The first Halloween costume I remember wearing as a child was a hand-me-down clown outfit that consisted of a white jumpsuit splattered with colored polka dots and lipstick on my nose. Yes, the photos are adorable but clowns still kinda of freak me out to this day, especially Clowns Will Eat Me and Just Freakin Clowns.

Perhaps you’re on a budget?
