Sierra Furtwangler: This Is Not a Sloth (Tip of My Rod)

Thankfully, good art still has the capability of stopping me dead in my tracks as I stroll down the street or through a gallery.

And that’s exactly what happened during a recent visit to Albany Center Gallery to see the two-woman show, “It’s the Thread That Binds,” featuring the work of fiber-artists Jennifer Hunold and Sierra Furtwangler.

I turned a corner and suddenly came face-to-face with a leering, sneering creature hanging upside down from a tree branch that juts out from the wall.
