It’s the final week of the Philadelphia Orchestra’s annual summer residency at SPAC in Saratoga Springs.
On Wednesday, violin virtuoso Sarah Chang performs Mozart’s Magic Flute Overture, Shostakovich’s Violin Concerto No. 1 in A minor and Symphony No. 2 in D major by Brahms.
Thursday, vocalists Julia Murney and Erin Mackey join with the orchestra in a concert of diva showstoppers from Broadway, opera and pop including selections from Wicked, Carmen, Titanic and more.
Friday is Masterpiece Night, with Musorgsky’s Prelude to Khovanshchina, Richmaninoff’s Piano Concert No. 3 with pianist Garrick Ohlsson and Dvorak’s Symphony No. 8.
Wrapping it all all on Saturday is the Tchaikovksy Spectacular, featuring Polanise from Eugene Onegin, Piano Concerto No 1 in B-flat minor, Romeo and Juliet and, to top off the night (and the season), The 1812 Overture complete with live cannons and fireworks.
