Be Here Now: CRUMBS Nite Out @ The Linda, 7/23

Tuesday, July 21st, 2009

Hopefully, the third time is the charm, as they say.

Singer-songwriter Sean Rowe was originally booked for the monthly free CRUMBS Nite Out concert slated for The Linda on Thursday, July 23. But then he dropped off the bill and was replaced by Paper and Sand. Then that band decided to pack it in and call it quits last month, leaving the CRUMBS folks in the lurch once again.

Fortunately, Troy rockers Sumac have come to the rescue, and they’ll be featured at 7pm on Thursday in a hour-long session of live music-making interspersed with interview segments conducted by Howe Glassman.

After a brief intermission, entertainment lawyers Paul Rapp and Paul Czech will moderate a panel discussion that every working musicain in Nippertown should attend. What’s it all about? “Gigs,” as Rapp sums it up. “How to get ’em, how to screw ’em up, who to talk to, what to submit, what not to say, war stories, etc.”

And just so you know that the guest panelists know what they’re talking about, I’ll tell you that they include Greg Bell (Guthrie Bell Productions), Jared Kinsley (Revolution Hall), Howe Glassman (The Linda/Valentine’s) and Don Dworkin (DDE Enterprises).

“I really wanted Ted Etoll too, but he can’t make it,” adds Rapp.

In addition, Thursday marks the first big CRUMBS event where you can pick up a copy of the brand-spankin’ new compilation CD, “Live From CRUMBS Cafe, Volume 1,” featuring a dozen Nippertown bands including Railbird, Matthew Loiacono, Sirsy, Sean Rowe and Ramblin Jug Stompers.
