Hometown rockers Northern Faces will be throwing the CD release party for their self-titled debut album on Friday (April 17) at the Hollow Bar + Kitchen in Albany. The album is slated for official release by Albany’s Equal Vision record label on Tuesday (April 21).
Admission is $15 at the door; free CD included with ticket purchase.
Northern Faces formed in early 2012 and currently features Bryan Shortell (vocals and guitar), Marco Testa (vocals and guitar) and Matt Ippolito (bass). Following their Albany CD release party, the band will launch a coast-to-coast tour with labelmates the Dear Hunter.
Los Angeles-based rockers Electric Guest made their Nippertown debut at the Upstate Concert Hall in Clifton Park last month, promoting their debut album “Mondo,” produced by Danger Mouse.
Led by Asa Taccone and Matthew Compton, the band was featured as one of a dozen on MTV’s list of “Artists to Watch in 2012,” performed on “The Late Show With David Letterman” and have made the rounds of the primo festival scene, including South by Southwest, Montreux, Outside Lands and Bonaroo.
Last week, Northern Lights in Clifton Park changed its name to the Upstate Concert Hall, and it appears that a lot of folks are still flummoxed by the change.
And on Sunday, the Upstate Concert Hall will play host to Around the World And Back as the opening act for British pop-rockers the Kooks – but they’re not Around the World And Back anymore. The band has changed its name to Northern Faces. (Well, at least something will still be Northern at the former Northern Lights.)
Oh, and by thee way, there’s been a personnel change in the line-up for the newly dubbed Northern Faces, too. Mike Ryan has taken over the drum throne formerly occupied by Jared Bashant back in the ATWAB days.
Sunday’s show will mark the debut of the band’s new name, as well as their new drummer.
