Less than a month ago, the fabulous jazz vocal group Manhattan Transfer rolled into The Egg to celebrate the release of their latest album, a tribute to the music of Chick Corea.
At 12noon on Tuesday, October 20, Laurel Masse – a founding member of Manhattan Transfer – will offer a free performance at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Troy to kick off this season’s Tuesdays @ Noon free concert series, which takes place at the church on the third Tuesday of each month. Admission is free, although donations are welcome. Concertgoers are encouraged to bring their lunch.
NOTE: Not to be confused with the Troy Savings Band Music Hall’s Tuesdays @ Noon free concert series, which takes place on the second Tuesday of each month.
This summer, the new group JaLaLa made its recording debut with “That Old Mercer Magic” on Dare Records, a tribute to the music of Johnny Mercer. The group features Janis Siegel (of Manhattan Transfer), Laurel Masse and Lauren Kinhan (of New York Voices fame).
