Asteroid 2010_AL30 is going to buzz Planet Earth today on a path that will place it about 1/3 of the distance between Earth and the moon. It’s a smallish (20-30 foot wide) one that, according to NASA, would burn up in the atmosphere even if it hit the Earth.

But if you want to be better prepared for the next one, NASA has started @AsteroidWatch on Twitter to send out alerts about what they call “near-Earth objects.”
