With more than 100 bands playing at a dozen different venues throughout downtown Albany over the course of the three-day MOVE Music Festival, it was impossible to see and hear ’em all, but our intrepid Tim Reidy managed to catch more than most.

After catching 10 bands on Friday night and 14 more on Saturday, Reidy still had enough gas in his tank to see performances by Erin Harkes, Steve Candlen and Shinobi Ninja (subbing for the Sea the Sea) at the inaugural MOVE Music Video Awards at the Madison Theater on Sunday evening (GO HERE to see the list of winners), and then he wrapped up the fest with Jimkata at the Hollow Bar + Kitchen.

Now that’s what we call a busy, busy weekend…

The Northeast’s newest indie music festival took place last month in Albany. Now in its second year, the MOVE Music Festival’s purpose is to give exposure to regional talent through live performances at venues around Albany. Nearly 100 bands were selected based on originality, songwriting, live performance and overall talent.

The day kicked off at Hilton Albany where the artists got to meet with industry professionals to discuss today’s independent music scene and gain insight on how to build a career in music. Keynote speaker was Bob Tulipan, author of “Rockin in the New World.” Tulipan has worked in the music industry for over 30 years and has produced scores of concerts and festival events with major artists including the Police, Cheap Trick, Judas Priest, Gloria Estefan, the Go Go’s, Patti Smith and Talking Heads.
