Yes brought their 3-Album Tour back to New England last weekend, and this time around, they played outdoors at Mountain Park in Holyoke. In order, they performed the entire albums of Close to the Edge, Going for the One and The Yes Album, wrapping up the concert with “Roundabout” as the encore.

Being in a park setting, the start of each new album seemed to start off a bit slowly, but the band – which featured current members Steve Howe, Chris Squire, Alan White, Geoff Downes and vocalist Jon Davison, who joined the band last year – improves as the albums progressed. My highlights from the show were “And You and I,” “Turn of the Century” and “Awaken.”

Real Good for Free: Sonny Landreth @ Mountain Park, 8/15

August 10th, 2009, 7:16 am by Greg

The Iron Horse Entertainment Group rules the Northampton, Mass. music scene with a great string of venues including the Iron Horse Music Hall, Pearl Street, the Basement and the Calvin Theater.

Now they’re enlarging their entertainment empire with the addition of a new venue – Mountain Park on Route 5, Holyoke, Mass.

As previously announced, the Decemberists and the Heartless Bastards will play there on Sunday, August 16.

But the venue will get a test drive – so to speak – with a free concert on Saturday, August 15. Louisiana guitarslinger Sonny Landreth headlines the big bash, which will also include Naomi Shelton and the Gospel Queens, Johnny A, Rubblebucket Orchestra and the Frank Manzi Band.

The free, eight-hour festival is scheduled to begin at 2pm.
