Art Saves Animals
Art Saves Animals 2011 is coming up on October 6 at the Arts Center of the Capital Region in Troy.

The 7th annual art auction and reception benefits the Mohawk & Hudson River Humane Society in their mission of providing care and adoptions for over 6,000 animals every year.

You can help by donating original artwork and/or handcrafted items. Hundreds of people will see your work and your tax-deductible donation entitles you to heavily discounted tickets for the event. We went last year and can report that it’s quite the shindig, with great food, copious amounts of wine and some highly entertaining bidding wars.

What’s needed? Wall art, sculpture and handcrafted items such as ceramics, jewelry, quilts and notecards. The art does not need to be about animals. Here’s the registration form. The deadline for donations isSeptember 22. UPDATE: The deadline has been extended to September 28.

Chuck Miller On Vincent The Cat

Chuck MillerChuck Miller, a photographer who knows a little something about one of our favorite dogs, has posted a moving story about Vincent, a cat he unwittingly adopted. He’s also the first artist to donate a work for the Mohawk and Hudson River Humane Society’s Art Saves Animals auction fundraiser this September 30.

Chuck, we like you even more now, if that’s possible.
