RIP: Willy DeVille

Willy DeVille has died in Paris at the age of 55. Or 58, depending on which reports you want to believe.

Here’s an interview with Willy that Thom Jurek did for allmusic.com back in May, 2006.

Here he is performing “I Must Be Dreaming” on “The Late Show With David Letterman” in 1985.

and performing “This Must Be The Night” at NYC’s legendary Bottom Line in 1993:

This is just heartbreaking: Paul Rapp sent along the news that Willy DeVille has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. His music was such a large part of my formative years, and he still epitomizes cool:
