Lucy Feller: My Family Tree

Lucy Feller: My Family Tree

Ferrin Gallery in Pittsfield has a jam-packed weekend planned: First up is an artist talk by Lucy Feller, discussing her show of digital and customized postcards, at 3:30pm on Saturday, October 10, followed by the closing reception for the show from 4-6pm.

That closing reception also offers you a chance to get a preview of the Studio Pottery Invitational Group Show of Functional Ceramics by American Studio Potters featuring Chris Gustin.

In fact, if ceramics are your thing, this is one boffo weekend: Locally Thrown/Locally Grown is a series of 4 events over 3 days including, in addition to the preview on Saturday, a benefit dinner, demonstration, and tour of local studios in western Massachusetts. Proceeds from the events help support the ceramics program that provides work space, classes, demonstrations and workshops at IS183 Art School in Stockbridge.

Mara Superior: A Swan's Wedding Day

Mara Superior: A Swan's Wedding Day

As we mentioned before, we had fun at Pittsfield’s Third Thursday last week, but the best part of the day was finally making it to the Leslie Ferrin Gallery, which we had heard so much about but never visited.

The current exhibit showcases Pittsfield artist Joe Goodwin’s glowing abstract acrylic paintings and Lucy Feller’s evocative “Wish You Were Near” postcard series, but the bright and spacious gallery has room for both solo exhibitions and separate sections for ceramics works, ceramic teapots, and individual works.
