Academy Award-nominated Lucy Alibar, whose stage play was adapted into the award-winning film Beasts of the Southern Wild, workshops her latest, Throw Me on the Burnpile and Light Me Up, with the Sundance Institute Theatre Program, in residency for two weeks at MASS MASS. Catch a reading of this work – a tale of a man, his family, his animals and his burn pile – on its way to the bright lights. The Sundance Institute Theatre Program presents Throw Me on the Burnpile and Light Me Up in MASS MoCA’s Club B-10 on Saturday (December 6) at 8pm.

During an evening exploring Southern eccentricity and family dynamics, Lucy Alibar’s Throw Me on the Burnpile and Light Me Up reflects upon the writer’s unusual upbringing in rural Florida, focusing on stories of her father – a criminal defense attorney and true Southerner – whose peculiarities shaped her identity, both in childhood and as an adult.
