Lonesome Val performing at The Linda last December

Yes, after her triumphant performance in December at The Linda in Albany, Lonesome Val is getting ready to step back into the spotlight.

Once again she’ll be accompanied by guitarist Todd Nelson (her former Units/Fear of Strangers bandmate), when she heads into the Mission Bar + Tapas in Pittsfield at 8pm on Friday, April 29, where they’ll open for Australian singer-songwriter Mia Dyson.

Reservations are strongly recommended; the capacity at the Mission is just 49 people.

In support of their new album, “Oooh La La!,” the Crash Test Dummies arrived safely at The Linda in Albany for the third stop on their tour. The previous shows in Ithaca and Niagara Falls found the band trudging through what has been reported as several feet of snow – with part of the NYS Thruway being closed for a couple of days south of Buffalo. They may want to rethink their tour routing; I hear Miami is nice this time of year.

Lonesome Val

Mark your calendars now.

After a rather lengthy hiatus from this thing we call the music scene, “Lonesome Val” Haynes is returning to the spotlight. She’ll be performing at The Linda in Albany as the opening act for Crash Test Dummies at 8pm on Saturday, December 4.

Not only that, but Lonesome Val will be accompanied by guitarist and former bandmate Todd Nelson, who just released a fine instrumental trio album of his own, “Here.” (Read our review here.)

After Fear of Strangers split up, lead vocalist Val Haynes became Lonesome Val, and recorded two mighty fine solo albums for the Hoboken, NJ-based indie label Bar/None Records – the self-titled “Lonesome Val” (1990) and “NYC” (1994).
