ArtBeat: Abe Nover: “Found Out” & Other NYC Exhibits

Tuesday, September 14th, 2010

They say that good things come to those who wait.

Well, Abe Nover has certainly been waiting long enough, and now the 93-year-old artist is finally about to have his first one-person New York City art exhibition. Nover’s found art assemblages will be on exhibit at Gallery 307, a Seventh Avenue art gallery in Manhattan whose mission is to showcase the work of older artists.

Nover’s exhibition opens on Thursday, September 16, with an artist reception form 6-8pm. “Found Out” will remain on view through Thursday, October 7.

And, yes, Abe Nover just happens to be the father of Nippertown’s uber music fan, concert-goer and bongo player extraordinare Steve Nover.

If you do happen to find yourself in NYC on Thursday with art on your mind, you can also stop by the Pelavin Gallery, where there will be a reception from 6-8pm for Valatie artist Tara Fracalossi’s exhibition, “A Space of Time So Small.” The exhibit remains of view through Saturday, October 23.

And finally, Nippertown artist Gina Occhiogrosso has two pieces of work currently showing in “Hemispheres,” a group exhibition at the Lana Santorelli Gallery in NYC. The exhibit runs through Saturday, October 16.
