The Sixth Annual Berkshire International Film Festival is getting underway momentarily with screenings of 70 independent feature films, documentaries and shorts starting tonight through Sunday in Great Barrington and from tomorrow through Sunday in Pittsfield.

Tonight’s opening film at the Mahaiwe in Great Barrington is Page One: Inside the New York Times, a documentary directed by Andrew Rossi that chronicles the turmoil and transformation of the newspaper empire at a critical juncture in media history.

Saturday brings two films with local ties: a special screening of Pittsfield native Kent Jones’ latest film, A Letter To Elia, on the life of Elia Kazan, written and directed with Martin Scorcese and a special preview screening of Never Stand Still, a documentary on Jacob’s Pillow, narrated by Bill T. Jones.
