Singer-songwriter K.J. Denhert calls her music “urban folk and jazz,” and that just about covers it. But if Denhert’s music is difficult to classify, it’s certainly easy enough to enjoy. An old-school R&B-pop-soul singer, Denhert claims James Taylor and Joni Mitchell as her most potent musical influences.

Denhert is headlining at The Linda in Albany at 8pm Saturday. It’s a very special show – a benefit concert for Capital District Keys for Kids, a free, non-profit program designed to teach youth in the Albany, Schenectady and Troy areas how to read, play and appreciate music.

In addition to Denhert, Saturday’s benefit concert will also feature some impressive homegrown talent, including the oh-so-tasty country-rock sounds of Tern Rounders and the contemporary Christian rock of the Loudonville quintet 4ever1.
