Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center will present Grammy Award-winning blues guitarist and singer-songwriter Jonny Lang on Thursday (August 21) at 8pm. ā€œIā€™m very excited to welcome this blues phenomenon to the Mahaiwe stage for the first time. It promises to be an unforgettable night,ā€ said Mahaiwe Executive Director Beryl Jolly.

Jonny Lang is a blues, gospel and rock singer, songwriter, guitarist and recording artist. As a 12-year-old, he began a musical journey in Fargo, North Dakota that has brought him to points across the globe. He mastered his skills at an amazingly young age, topping the Billboard charts with his first album, Lie to Me, in 1996 when he was only 16. Over the years, he has shared the stage with the Rolling Stones, B.B. King, Aerosmith, Sting and Buddy Guy, who he continues to tour with today.

The combined grace, hellfire, innovation and soul of Jimi Hendrix remains unmatched to this day – more than 40 years after his death. His six-string mastery has influenced every guitarist on the planet who has ever plugged into an amplifier.

So as you would expect with any tribute concert to Hendrix, there was a whole lotta guitar wanking going on at the Palace Theatre in Albany last Saturday night.

A whole lot.
