The Marty Wendell Band in the Gazebo

Both ends of the Amsterdam Mohawk River waterfront were alive with music and family activities last Saturday.

The Guy Park Manor historic site and river lock was celebrating the opening of the new location of the Walter Ellwood Museum on its grounds by hosting the annual Amsterdam Summerfest. Amid booths of games, food, crafts and face painting, kids could bounce, pet adoptable cats or tour the barge anchored near the lock. JIM GAUDET & THE RAILROAD BOYS: Veteran Nippertown singer-songwriter Gaudet teamed up with the Railroad Boys for their official album debut in 2009 with the sublime “So Far So Good.” Now they’re back with their follow-up, “No Questions Asked,” featuring 11 new songs from the sharp pen of Gaudet (including one co-authored by Caroline “MotherJudge” Isachsen) and three covers. The Boys are celebrating at 8pm tonight at Caffe Lena in Saratoga Springs. Tix are $18.

JO HENLEY: The Boston-based roots-rockin’ Americana quartet returns to singer-guitarist-bandleader Andy Campolieto’s hometown to celebrate the release of their third full-length album, “Mohawk,” an ambitious collection of songs which just happen to be all about the city of Schenectady. And, yes, they’ll be celebrating in the Electric City at 10pm tonight with a CD release party at Katie O’Byrne’s. With Chris Cagnina of O.W.L. opening the show. FREE.
