The Nippertown music community lost a beloved member last month with the passing of Jeff Ellis, drummer with countless local bands and a long-time employee at both Drome Sound and Parkway Music.
On Sunday afternoon, family, friends and fans will be gathering at the Parting Glass in Saratoga Springs to celebrate his life and music with the day-long Jeffapalooza festival.
Among the many bands and musicians who are donating their time and talents to the benefit bash are Forthlin Road, Maximus, Working Class, Groove Therapy (with special guest Julie Delfs), the Stray Dogs, Ronnie Morris, Mitch Frasier, Collette & the Mudcats and Rock Slide.
The celebration is slated to get underway at 2pm on Sunday. Suggested minimum donation at the door is $10, and all proceeds will go directly to Jeff Ellis’ family in their time of need. In addition to the music, there will also be raffles and prizes.

Ellis was well-known and respected by musicians throughout the Capital Region from his 25 years of service at Drome Sound (in both Albany and Schenectady) and Parkway Music in Clifton Park, where he worked for the past 13 years.
He was also a drummer, having played with countless bands during his long tenure behind the drum kit.
Calling hours will be held today from 2-4pm and from 7-9pm at the Daly Funeral Home at 242 McClellan Street in Schenectady. The funeral service will be held at 1pm on Saturday (April 7) at Our Lady of Fatima Church at 2216 Rosa Road in Schenectady.
Our condolences go out to his family and friends.
