Media Watch: ‘Tis the Season for Readers’ Polls

Monday, February 21st, 2011

Apparently, everybody has the same idea at the same time. At least, that’s kind of how it looks on the local magazine front these days.

Metroland is currently collecting entries for its readers’ poll, and it’s a whopper with 178 categories that you can weigh in on. NOTE: In order for your vote to count, you must fill in at least half of the ballot (89 categories). And if you want to be eligible for prizes, you must complete at least 134 categories.
RESULTS PUBLISHED: In the March 3 issue

Capital Region Living is also currently conducting its seventh annual readers’ poll. You can make your best-of selections from 155 different categories – with food and restaurants garnering the largest number of slots. There is no minimum number of categories that you must fill in order to make your vote count.
RESULTS PUBLISHED: In the April/May issue

And Hudson Valley Magazine has also launched its best-of reader’s poll balloting, although they’ve taken a rather different approach. Should you choose to vote online, you can only vote in 10 of the ballot’s most competitive categories. Complete ballots are available only in the March issue of the magazine.
RESULTS PUBLISHED: In the October issue
