And two of the Capital Region’s rockin’est party bands are teaming up!
Led by charismatic lead singer Nicole K., Nippertown retro-rockers Hot Cousin churn out a whirlwind of flashback favorites from the wild decade of the ’80s – whipping through everything from John Cougar Mellencamp’s “Authority Song” to the Vapors’ skittering new wave fave “Turning Japanese.”
Catch ‘em in action on at 9pm on Friday (March 23) at the Fuze Box in Albany. Admission is $5; $10 for those under 21.

1. THE FIRST ALBUM I EVER BOUGHT WAS … The Beastie Boys’ “Licensed to Ill.” I will never forget how rad I thought it looked with the plane picture on it. I remember opening it up and playing it for my dad. Strangely, he said he liked it, which seemed like it was impossible because it was rap. Dads don’t like rap. Especially dads who owned a lot of Chicago and Manhattan Transfer records. But he also had Herb Alpert’s “Whipped Cream and Other Delights,” which had a naughty cover, so maybe he could have genuinely liked the Beastie Boys. I’ll ask him at Valentine’s on Friday because he’ll be at the gig. Or you could ask him because you should probably go.
